SOG jawan commits suicide in Odisha

Koraput, Aug 9:

A jawan of the Special Operations Group (SOG) committed suicide at Damanjodi in Odisha’s Koraput district late on Friday night.

According to reports, the deceased, Gangadhar Behera, son of Kalicharan Behera of Damanjodi, was working as a SOG jawan at Bargarh.

On Friday night, he had come to his native place. Late in the night, he went to the rooftop of his house and shot himself by firing from his service AK-47 rifle.

While the cause of the suicide was not yet known, police suspect family tension was behind the extreme step taken by the jawan. Investigation is on to ascertain the exact reason, police said.

It may be mentioned that another SOG jawan of the district had committed suicide after killing his three family members and a car driver from his service AK-47 rifle on May 12 this year.
