Balangir: A sorcerer was arrested for allegedly piercing multiple needles into the head of a 19-year-old girl in an attempt to cure her of a disease in Odisha's Balangir district.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital here.

As per reports, Reshma Behera, a resident of Inch village under Sindhekela police limits in the district, had been suffering from a mysterious disease for the past four years.

After conventional medical treatments failed, her family turned to Santosh Rana, a sorcerer from Jamutjhula village, seeking an alternative cure.

According to the victim's father, Bishnu Behera, the sorcerer took Reshma into a room, claiming he would heal her. After an hour, he brought her out, asserting that she was cured. However, shortly afterward, Reshma fell unconscious, and her family discovered needles piercing her head.

Alarmed, they rushed her to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital. A CT scan revealed that over 10 needles were lodged in her head, prompting immediate medical intervention.

Following the family's complaint, the police arrested the sorcerer. Investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about this disturbing incident.
