Sorcerer brands woman in Odisha, detained

Police have detained a person for allegedly branding a woman to cure her son of an ailment in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district today.

The man, who claimed to be a sorcerer, was detained by the police following a complaint by the victim, a resident of Balidhar village at the Kaptipada police station.

According to reports, the accused who had asked the woman to sit in a puja to cure her son of illness branded her on her face and other body parts proclaiming her to be a witch.

Following the incident, the woman lodged a complaint at the Kaptipada police station and the accused has been detained by the police for interrogation.
