Bhubaneswar, May 13:

Ama Odisha Party (AOP) chief Soumya Ranjan Patnaik today called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence here to discuss a host of issues including multi-crore chit fund scam.

Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, who is associated with anti-liquor campaign, farmers’ rights, language movement and cause of chit fund investors, claimed that the meeting had nothing to do with politics.

“Chief Minister had called me to discuss the issues of nisha, bhasa, chasa and chit fund. He wanted to know how these issues can be sorted out. I have personally advised him that if he takes the persons spearheading the movements into confidence then these issues can be resolved. I feel there isn’t anything which cannot be resolved through dialogues,” Soumya Ranjan Patnaik said.

The editor of Odisha’s leading daily Sambad further said, we should now rise above politics on people and parties. Rather, we should do issue-based politics.

There are several issues where parties can unite and work towards its solution, he added.

Patnaik, however, dismissed any alignment with the ruling BJD, for the time being, adding 2019 elections is too far.
