Soumya Patnaik files nomination for Odisha Assembly polls as independent candidate

Ghasipura: Khandapada MLA and senior leader Soumya Ranjan Patnaik today filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Ghasipura Assembly segment under Anandapur subdivision in Keonjhar district.

Earlier in the morning, the senior leader paid his obeisance to Goddess Tarini at Ghatagaon shrine. From the temple, he straightway proceeded to Anandapur Sub-Collector’s Office along with thousands of his supporters and tendered the nomination papers.

“By the blessings of Maa Tarini, I will seek people’s mandate as an independent candidate rather than as a partisan one. Natives of Ghasipura have been neglected for the past several years. Residents of this Assembly constituency segment requested me to steer development in the region. I am deeply moved by their support and enthusiasm,” the Khandapada MLA said mediapersons.

It is pertinent to mention here that, previously, Patnaik had a discussion with the residents of Ghasipura in this regard.

A meeting was held among thousands of supporters at Patnaik’s residence in Anandapur. Then and there, he had decided to independently contest for the Assembly polls from Ghasipura constituency segment.
