Southwest monsoon to arrive in Odisha in next 4-5 days

Bhubaneswar: Amidst huge humidity during the scorching summer, here’s good news for people about onset of monsoon and pre-monsoon rainfall in Odisha.

According to forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon may hit Odisha in the next 4-5 days and the pre-monsoon rain may occur during this period.

The conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of the west Bay of Bengal and Odisha in the next 4-5 days, the IMD stated in a bulletin today.

The cyclonic circulation over westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast still persists and now lies over westcentral Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh coast. A low pressure is likely to develop over north Bay of Bengal during next 4-5 days, the release said.

This possible low pressure is likely to expedite onset of monsoon in Odisha, the Bhubaneswar MeT said.
