Southwest monsoon to bid adieu from Oct 20, dry weather likely in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Amidst festive season, here is good news for all as the southwest monsoon will bid adieu to Odisha as well as entire country from October 20 ahead of Diwali.

With withdrawal of southwest monsoon, the northeast monsoon will enter into the country.

“Conditions are becoming favourable for withdrawal of Southwest monsoon from entire country around 20th October, 2018. Also, conditions are likely to become favourable for onset of Northeast Monsoon thereafter,” IMD said in a release.

In Odisha, the weather has remained dry after severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ and subsequent rain that affected several districts claiming 57 lives so far.

The dry weather is likely to continue during next one week over Odisha.

The IMD predicted no weather warning for Odisha till October 22.

However, a low pressure area is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal around October 23.
