Bhubaneswar: First time in Utkal University, the authorities may come up with a new rule to conduct a special examination for the students, who were not allowed for the course work exam, after being enrolled into various PhD programmes.

A proposal in this regard has been made to the Vice chancellor through the examination controller requesting him for the special examination for the exempted PhD students at Odisha's premier varsity.

With possible nod to the recommendation, the PhD students exempted to have appeared in the course work examination in different subjects for various reasons are likely to get another chance for the test this year.

The recommendation has been made by the HoDs (Head of the Departments) to fix a date for the special examination for exempted enrolled students. However, it needs to be reviewed as it had been held never before. The VC has been urged to take appropriate decision by forming a special team, said Utkal University Examination Controller Sharat Kumar Majhi.

According to reports, several students failed to appear in the course work examination to attend the regular classes after enrolment into the PhD programmes in Utkal University this year.

Notably, the students need to submit an NOC before the varsity authorities for appearing in the course work exam. In case they fail to deposit the required document, they are declared ineligible for the test and have to wait for another year for continuing the PhD programmes.
