Special flight carrying Odisha migrants from Dubai arrives at Bhubaneswar airport

Bhubaneswar: A special flight carrying Odisha migrants from Dubai arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar today evening. Official sources said the special flight operated under the Vande Bharat Mission carrying a total of 151 Odisha migrants reached the Bhubaneswar airport at around 9.05 pm.

After the arrival, passengers were allowed to deplane in batches of 20 each at the airport.

Those who had not registered themselves on the Odisha government’s COVID-19 portal will be asked to register first. Passengers will then undergo medical screening at the airport, said an official.


BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said passengers having suspected symptoms of COVID-19 will be kept separately. Other passengers will be asked to keep themselves in home quarantine and the administration will put up quarantine stickers in front of their houses.

Official sources said bus arrangement has been made for passengers wish to go to Khordha, Cuttack, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur districts. Those who want to go to Bargarh, Balasore and Nayagarh districts will be kept at institutional quarantine in Bhubaneswar.

Besides, 220 paid quarantine rooms have been kept ready for the passengers who wish to avail them.

Official sources said the special plane will return to New Delhi after all the passengers deplane.
