Bhubaneswar: Around 33,000 police personnel and 102 companies of central force will be deployed for ‘free and fair’ conduct of the second phase of simultaneous polls in Odisha scheduled for tomorrow (May 20). Moreover, special security arrangements have been made at sensitive booths in Maoist-infested areas of the State, DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi informed in a presser held here today.

According to the official source, the manpower to be utilised during elections is 33,000 which includes 102 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and 66 platoons of Odisha Armed Police.

Furthermore, 47 Additional SPs (ASPs), 88 Deputy SPs (DSPs), 236 Inspectors, 2,000 sub-inspectors (SIs) & ASIs, 11,800 havildars & constables, 5,800 home guards & GRs, and 655 mobile parties will be deployed for smooth conduct of the upcoming second phase General Elections in Odisha.

Worth mentioning, the 5th phase polls in the country and 2nd phase poll in the State will be held in five parliamentary constituency (PC) and 35 Assembly constituency (AC) segments. The PCs going to polls in the second phase include Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Rourkela, Balangir, Subarnapur, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Berhampur (19 booths).
