Spike in COVID-19 cases: Odisha Minister clears air on closure of schools

Bhubaneswar: Amidst the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in the state and most being reported from educational institutions, School and Mass Education Minister today informed that no decision has been taken regarding closure of schools.

Talking to mediapersons, the Minister said, ‘no positive case has been reported from state run schools or hostels yet. We have ordered all officials to strictly adhere to SOPs issued by the Government.”

He further said district administrations have been asked to keep a close eye on private schools.

Earlier in the day, three including a student of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack, one student of  Kendriya Vidyalaya 1 in Bhubaneswar found positive for the virus.
