Spl category status row: BYJD burns Union Min’s effigy, meets Guv

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) activists today took out a bike rally and burnt the effigy of Union Minister of State for External Affairs General VK Singh protesting his remarks over Odisha’s demand for special category status.

Demanding Singh’s apology, the BYJD workers took out a bike rally from BJD state headquarters and went towards Raj Bhavan.

They staged protest near the Raj Bhavan and burnt effigy of the union minister.

Later, a delegation led by BYJD president Sanjay Das Burma submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir.

“We condemn the remarks of VK Singh and demand his apology. The BJP in its poll manifesto had promised to accord special category status to Odisha. However, Singh’s statement has exposed the real motive of the party,” said Das Burma.
