Spurious gutkha manufacturing unit busted in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: The Twin City Commissionerate Police today busted a spurious gutkha manufacturing unit at Talabania in Jagatpur area here and detained two persons, including the owner, in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off about the adulteration at a rented residential house, a police team raided the spot and seized gutkha worth lakhs, labels, packaging items having logos of various brands, and machines used in the production.

The owner of the production unit lacked trade license and other required documents, a police official said.

Police had recently busted several other units manufacturing adulterated food, edible oil and similar commodities in Jagatpur, Potapokhari, Nuabazar and 42 Mouza areas of the city.
