Bhadrak: Police today busted a spurious tobacco manufacturing unit at Puruna Bazar in Odisha's  Bhadrak town and detained a person in this connection.

According to reports, adulterated zarda was being produced at a factory located at one Karim Khan's house located at Puruna Bazar. Acting on a tip-off about the offence, a police team raided the place and seized articles worth Rs 1.5 lakh, including chemicals, equipment, and packaging items bearing logos of various tobacco manufacturing companies.

While police detained a person namely Raja Khan from the spot, Karim fled the spot after the raid.

Further investigation in the matter was underway.
