Spurned lover attacks Class IX girl for rejecting proposal in Odisha

Balasore: A spurned lover allegedly attacked a Class IX girl student over refusal of his love proposal by her and her family as well.

The incident occurred at Tuta village under Khaira block in Balasore district.

The accused has been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Dash of Tuta village.

The victim has been hospitalised following the incident.

According to reports, the 25-year-old youth attacked the minor girl with a sharp weapon while she was going to attend her coaching class at the village today morning.

Though, the reason behind attack is yet obscure, source said that the youth had proposed to the girl for love a few days back. As the girl and her family members opposed it, he is suspected to have attacked to harm her life.

Following the incident, the accused youth fled the area.

The victim has been shifted to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.

On receiving the complaint, the police has initiated probe into the incident.
