SRC clears air on day curfew in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A day after announcing night curfew in 10 districts of Odisha from April 5, Special Relief Commissioner, PK Jena today clarified it has no plan so far to impose day curfew in the State.

In a statement, the Special Relief Commissioner further stated the Covid-19 situation in the State is very much under control and the government is closely monitoring the situation.

“At this stage there is no plan for imposing day curfew in the State. We appeal everyone to follow the Covid protocols – mask use, physical distancing and hand hygiene,” the statement read.

The SRC ordered for a night curfew in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri districts from April 5 with an aim to contain the spread of Covid. The night curfew will be imposed from 10 PM to 5 AM.

All commercial establishments, shops, offices, institutions and movement of individuals will remain closed and prohibited except essential services during the night curfew.
