Puri: Amidst tight security, the Ratna Bhandar inspection by the 16-member team concluded in Jagannath temple here today.

The team members made a very quick inspection and returned just minutes after entering the Ratna Bhandar.

Reports said that the team entered the mysterious Ratna Bhandar excluding Puri SP and examined only two rooms of outer Ratna Bhandar and found crack on the wall and roof. However, the team members did not enter the inner side of Ratna Bhandar.

Further initiative will be taken after submitting the inspection report to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

"The team members entered the Ratna Bhandar through the Jagamohan at around 2.25 pm and examined thoroughly the outer Ratna Bhandar. The Ratna Bhandar door was opened in presence of Puri Gajapati Maharaj's representative, Ratna Bhandar Mekap and temple rituals administrator. They found dirt after they opened the Ratna Bhandar door and it was cleaned with help of broom. Nobody entered the Ratna Bhandar from outside for cleaning work," SJTA Chief Administrator Pradeep Kumar Jena told the reporters after coming out of the temple.

"The inspection team members found the wall and roof of the Ratna Bhandar wet. They did not enter further as the team could clearly see the wall and roof of inner portion of Ratna Bhandar through high power search light. The preliminary report about the inspection of Ratna Bhandar is being prepared by the ASI. We will go through the report and the detailed report will be submitted to the High Court on April 5," he said.

When asked about the reason for not entering the inner portion of Ratna Bhandar, Jena said that the team members did not find it necessary to enter the inner Ratna Bhandar.

"It was not required to enter the inner Ratna Bhandar as the team could see the condition of it through the grill," Jena added.

Reports also said that the team did not enter the inner portion of Ratna Bhandar following arguments among the members as some of them did not agree to continue the process inside the treasury.

According to media reports, the core committee member GC Mitra suffered minor injury after he stumbled upon something during inspection of Ratna Bhandar. He was taken to ASI office following the incident.

As per the decision, a team comprising of 17 members including ASI core committee member NC Pal, High Court representative NK Mohanty, Puri Gajapati Maharaj's representative Amiya Mohanty, Ratna Bhandar Mekap and SJTA chief administrator Pradeep Kumar Jena had entered Srimandir at around 2.00 pm and went through frisking before entering the Ratna Bhandra.

However, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi, who was part of the 17-member team, was not allowed to enter the Ratna Bhandar as he did not wear cotton gamuccha. He stayed at Nata Mandap inside the shrine.
