Srusti Chess Festival concludes in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, May 19:

Ansuman Samal and Priyansa Das emerged champion in the U-17 and U-7 open categories while Smaraki Mohanty and Anjali Mishra claimed the titles in the U-17 and U-7 girls events respectively in the 3rd Srusti Chess Festival which concluded at Srusti Academy in the Odisha capital today.

Susobhit Das and Rudrakhay Parida finished second and third while Pranab Patra finished fourth in the U-17 open categories.

In the U-17 girls open event, Rutumbara Bidhara and Shreejita Kuntia finished second and third while Anisha Mishra came fourth.

In the U-7 boys open category, Koustav Das, Sriyans Das and Aryan Mohapatra finished second, third and fourth respectively, while Srijana Dash, Sradha Suman Jena and Dibyasrita Swain finished second, third and fourth respectively in the girls event.

The top four finishers of U-17 events would represent the state in the National U-17 Chess Championship at Karnataka scheduled from October 2 to 11 while the top two finishers would represent the State in the National U-7 Chess Championship at Chennai scheduled from August 17 to 25.

Headmaster of DM School Akhilesh Mishra gave away the prizes as the chief guest in the presence of AOCA member Subhasis Pattnaik and director, Srusti Academy GD Mishra.
