SSB Jawan held in Odisha for establishing sexual relationship with minor girl

Sundargarh: The police arrested a Jawan today for allegedly establishing sexual relationship with a minor girl on the pretext of marriage and later cheating her in Sundargarh Town Police Station area.
Based in a complaint filed by the minor girl’s family members, the police raided a place in Tileimal in Bamara and arrested the Jawan.

The accused, Lohit Chhachan has been working at as a Jawan of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and hails from Bankibahal village under Kinjirakela police limits.

As per the complaint, Chhachan intially established a love relationship with the minor girl from Sundargarh Town area. Later he maintained a physical relationship with a promise to marry her.

On February 2, 2020, the Jawan took the minor girl to his house. The next day he took the girl to a rented house in Rangadhipa in Sundargarh town. When her parents lodged a police complaint accusing the Jawan of kidnapping her daughter, the police detained the Jawan.

At the police station, Chhachan admitted about his love relationship with the minor girl and signed an agreement before the police to marry her once she attains 18 years.

In the meantime, the minor girl continued to stay in the rented house and the Jawan was visiting her frequently.

The complainant further stated Chhachan married another young woman from Tileimal in December 2020.

After coming to know about Chhachan’s marriage after around one and half months, the minor girl called up the Jawan. When she asked about the marriage, the Jawan issued death threat to her and hung up the phone, the complainant added.

Finding no other option, the minor girl narrated the whole incident to her mother who later filed the complaint at Sundargarh Town Police Station on February 5, 2021.
