Staff nurse alleges sexual harassment by doctor in Odisha

A lady staff nurse today brought sexual harassment charges against a doctor at the district headquarters hospital in Odisha’a Angul district.

Angul Nurse sexual harassment caseBriefing media persons here today, the harassed staff nurse said she had been mentally and sexually harassed by Dr Pabitra Mohan Rout, a contractual doctor working at the district headquarters hospital, over the last one year.

“Dr Rout was interfering with my professional career and personal life. Most of the time, he was placing his hand on my hand and using double entendre which is a matter of utter shame, humiliation and unbearable for any woman. It was beyond my imagination that I would face such a horrific situation in my life,” she said in a chocked voice.

She also said that although she had brought the matter to the attention of higher officials time and again, there has been no action against the erring doctor.

“When I informed the matter to the chief district medical officer (CDMO),he has assured me that a committee has been investigating into the matter and action would be taken against the concerned doctor if he is found guilty”, the staff nurse said.

Meanwhile, protesting against apathy of the concerned authorities, several women activists of the district have drawn the attention of the district collector demanding stern action against the erring doctor.
