Staff of guesthouse where Jharaphula, Rakesh stayed quizzed

Jajpur: Intensifying its probe into the Jharaphula Nayak death case, the Kuakhia Police in Jajpur district questioned two employees of a Bhubaneswar-based guesthouse today. Sources said the police quizzed the two guesthouse staff following their deposition to elicit more information on Jharaphula and male friend Rakesh Swain.

On January 26 night, Jharaphula, a student of Rama Devi Women’s University and resident of Jashipur in Mayurbhanj district, stayed along with Rakesh at room no-201 of Shivasai Guest House located in Dharma Vihar.

During the investigation the police sealed the room-201 of the guesthouse.

Worth mentioning, the body of Jharaphula was found on roadside at Mulapala under Kuakhia police limits on January 27 morning. Suspecting the involvement of Rakesh in the Jharaphula death case, the Kuakhia police with the help of the Commissionerate Police arrested him on January 28.

At present, Rakesh is on three-day police remand. Earlier in the day, he was taken to Mulapala where the body of the girl was allegedly dumped by him and friend.

Also, police are likely to take Rakesh to the room no-201 of the guesthouse in Bhubaneswar for scene reconstruction.
