Bhubaneswar: Preparations are in final stage for 'Rabana Podi' (burning of large effigies of demon king Rabana) in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack today on the occasion of Dussehra or Vijayadashmi.
In the capital city, the 'Rabana Podi' will be held at Jharpada, Baramunda, Nayapalli and Naharkanta while fireworks will take place at Jharpada and Baramunda only. Similarly, arrangements have been made for 'Rabana Podi' at the Balijatra ground in the millennium city of Cuttack.
The Twin City Commissionerate Police has issued advisory asking the denizens to stay at a minimum distance of 100 metres from the effigies during firework display. This apart, fire safety measures have been ensured at the spots.
Signifying the victory of good over evil, the occasion will be marked by attractive display of pyrotechnics. Huge effigies of Rabana, his son Meghanada and brother Kumbhakarna will be set afire with colourful fireworks.
