State Capital to bring enthusiasm among citizens in hosting 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup

Bhubaneswar: The Capital City is close to the festive occasion and after few days people will enjoy the Sunday morning with ‘Patha Utsav’. Bhubaneswar is happening and people from all walks will take part and host the 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup organised by Govt of Odisha.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Sulochana Das told to involve as much as groups for welcoming the trophy on 25th December 2022 in a meeting held here today.

The Govt of Odisha is hosting the 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup and the games are scheduled at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. As a host to the international event 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup, every citizen of the city is feeling proud to be a host and to celebrate in their own way, told Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.

On 25th of December 2022, the World Cup Trophy will be received in Bhubaneswar and Patha Utsav is proposed to be organised to celebrate the occasion. The Patha Utsav on 25th of the month will be conducted on a stretch of the Janpath from Master Canteen Square to Ram Mandir Square and next two (scheduled for 8th and 15th January 2023) will be held at other places of the city and this will be intimated beforehand. Different programmes like yoga, health check-up, live painting, music, cultural shows and talent demonstration are in the list of proposed activities, a BMC spokesperson said.

As a preparatory measure and to bring in inclusiveness and ownership of the residents of the city, a Mass Cleanliness drive with public participation in every ward of BMC has been planned to be organised on December 24, 2022. Sitting Corporators of each ward will lead the programme and the day will be dedicated to the sanitation workers. Zonal Deputy Commissioners (ZDCs) of each Ward shall conduct meeting and carry out such activities for smooth execution of the Mass Cleanness drive.

Community groups from each Ward will join in the drive and they will sit with the Safa Bhai and Safa Didi of their respective wards to felicitate them for their noble work. On the occasion of Men’s FIH Hockey, their support is a major contribution to showcase the city’s cleanliness and a friendly interaction with them will touch them, told BMC Commissioner Kulange.

Regarding welcoming the trophy in important Squares of the Capital City, there will be congregations and community welcome programmes. It was also discussed to find out the talents in each Ward and propose their names to undergo the process for demonstration at Patha Utsav. Corporators were requested to suggest names for the screening.

The BMC Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar, Additional Commissioner-1 Laxmikanta Sethy, Additional Commissioner-3 Suryawanshi Mayur Vikash and several other senior officers were present.
