State govt holds investors’ meet in Mumbai ahead of Make in Odisha Conclave 2022

Mumbai: Odisha government in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) today hosted the Odisha Investors’ Meet in Mumbai.

Gracing the occasion, Chief Minsiter Naveen Patnaik said, “Odisha is one of the fastest growing economies in India and has consistently grown above the national average in the last decade and a half. We are fast emerging as a major industrial destination in eastern India because of our natural resource advantage and strategic location. Over the last 20 years, my government has focused on leveraging these natural advantages through progressive policy, efficient administration and technological interventions.”

The Chief Minister invited the delegates to the Make in Odisha Conclave-2022. “The Make in Odisha Conclave’22 will be held in Bhubaneswar from November 30 to December 4. I would request all the dignitaries and Industry leaders present here to kindly participate in the conclave and be a partner in this transformational journey of Odisha,” Patnaik said.

Speaking at the investors’ meet Industries Minister Pratap Keshari Deb said, “With nearly 200 engineering colleges and 1,000 ITIs, we are creating the most skilled workforce in the country. We have recently established World Skill Centre (WSC), a premier advanced skill training institute, in Odisha. In order to fully realize the potential of the youth and entrepreneurs in the state, we have launched Start-Up Odisha campaign.”

Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra highlighted Odisha’s impressive growth story under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. “Today, Odisha is the largest producer of steel, stainless steel and aluminum in India. We are emerging as a leader in sectors like chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles and apparel, IT and ITeS, food processing and others. We are also attracting investment in new age sectors like green hydrogen and green ammonia, data centers, EV and EV component manufacturing to name a few,” he said.

Making a detailed presentation regarding the state government’s Make in Odisha Conclave 2022, the Chief Secretary said, “Our flagship investment summit, Make in Odisha Conclave (MIO’22) aims to provide a platform for industry leaders from across the world to discuss a roadmap for industrial development in the coming years. A humble beginning was made in 2016, which saw a footfall of 18,500 and received over 120 investment intents valued at over Rs 2 lakh crore. In 2018, we hosted the 2nd edition which raised the bar even higher by witnessing an influx of 45,000 visitors and receiving investment intents worth over Rs 4 lakh crore. We need your support and cooperation for the third edition of Make in Odisha Conclave.”

Industries department Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma spoke about the industrial ecosystem in Odisha. Sharma threw light on Odisha’s stable governance, business-friendly environment, attractive incentives, skilled manpower and abundant mineral resources while inviting corporate houses to invest in the state.

Over 300 delegates from various corporate houses participated in the investors’ meet.
