Stone laid for four-laning of Seragarh-Jharanaghati highway in Odisha’s Balasore

The Centre has sanctioned Rs 126 crore for the 32-km road project

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways VK Singh today laid foundation stone for the four-laning of Seragarh-Nilagiri-Jharanaghati State Highway in Balasore district of Odisha.

The Centre has sanctioned Rs 126 crore for the 32-km road project, sources said.

The Union Minister reached Nilagiri via road after landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in the capital city here from New Delhi.

Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi and Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak among others were present at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the road project at KC High School ground in Nilagiri area of Balasore.

“The Centre has sanctioned Rs 126 crore from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the four-laning of the Seragarh-Nilagiri-Jharanaghati State Highway in Balasore. This is a rare occasion when the Centre sanctions money for a State Highway project,” said an official of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The widening of the Seragarh-Jharanaghati State Highway will boost road communication to West Bengal and Jharkhand from Nilagiri via Mayurbhanj, said the Balasore MP.

“The road project will play a key role in improving connectivity in Balasore district,” said the Union Minister.
