Stone sculptures by Odia craftsmen to attract tourists in Australia

Adding a great achievement to its fold, B K Arts and Crafts in Soro of Balasore district in Odisha exported 12 stone sculptures for the first time to Australia on Wednesday to be installed at different tourist places in the country.

Internationally acclaimed stone sculpture businessman William Brant was highly impressed seeing the stone carvings of the institution and made advance payment to buy his selections with some inputs to make those more gorgeous during his visit in May this year.

The shipment included Hindu deities of Goddess Durga, Ganesh, Krishna, Hanuman, Saraswati and a few to name including elephant and was shipped through Chennai Port.

The estimated value of the consignment was pegged around Rs 15 lakh.

This overwhelming success of B K Arts and Crafts has evoked new ray of hope for local craftsmen regarding stone carving industry after it went global. The artists seek an online platform for their crafts to be visible worldwide.
