Stray dogs maul newborn to death in Mayurbhanj, locals recover the body

Rairangpur: A newborn, discarded by somebody near a scrap dealer’s shop, was mauled to death today by three stray dogs at Ichinda village under Rairangpur Town police limits in Mayurbhanj.

However, some residents saw this and recovered the newborn’s half-eaten body from near the shop of Girish Pal Kabadiwala. Later, the locals informed the Town police about it.

On being informed, a team of police reached the spot and seized the body. Police have registered an unnatural death case (No-14/23) and initiated a probe in this connection, which is underway.

“Investigation is on to ascertain who threw away the baby in a secluded place, who are the parents and why the baby was discarded,” a senior official of the Town police station said.

On the other hand, the incident triggered resentment among the local residents, who demanded strong action against the wrongdoers.
