Street Store makes Steel City’s winter warmer

Bhubaneswar: The onset of winter saw Rourkela hosting the 7th edition of Street Store, organized by one of Odisha’s most famous private FM radio channel, Radio Choklate, in association with NIT Rourkela. People flocked to the store in large numbers and picked clothes of their choice.

Radio Choklate has been organizing such stores for the last three years and has covered Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, Puri, Berhampur, and Kendrapara in the past. All of their editions have been equally successful.

Street Store is a unique concept which allows the needy a dignified shopping experience. The donated clothes and apparels are usually cleaned and displayed at the store, where people come by, look at them and decide what they want.

“Thanks to NIT Rourkela and all our listeners from the Steel City for the overwhelming support and love. A tiny step ahead but still a long way to go till we cover all 30 districts of Odisha,” said Tanaya Patnaik, curator of the Street Store.

People went back with clothes and happiness writ large on their faces which is what this store aimed at. A kind gesture towards the poor and needy can definitely make their winters warmer.
