Stuck in a house during lockdown, Odisha couple ties knot on Valentine’s Day

Sundargarh: Four days prior to the announcement of nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak last year, Namita Majhi of Mahuldihi village under Rajgangpur block of Odisha’s Sundargarh district had come to visit her friend Babulal Majhi’s house at Panchara village under Kutra block in the district.

Little did she know that the visit would turn into a fairytale and lead to marriage with him on Valentine’s Day, this year.

Both got to know each other when Namita came to Panchara for attending a wedding, two years ago. Babulal and the girl exchanged contact numbers and were regularly in touch over phone during the next one year.

On being invited by Babulal, Namita came to his house, last year. However, she couldn’t return to her village after the announcement of the lockdown. The two started living in the same house and subsequently fell in love.

Their relationship was also approved by the family members of the two. The elated couple tied the nuptial knot today in the presence of their kin, well wishers, and friends.
