Cuttack: The students of Ravenshaw University called off strike following discussion with the Vice Chancellor here today.

After attending staff council meet today, Vice Chancellor Ishan Kumar Patro made it clear that the sine die will not be lifted till withdrawal of strike and normalcy is restored in the university.

The student had launched strike protesting fee hike and other issues.

Odisha's premier educational institution was closed sine die on May 9 following students’ unrest over fee hike.

The university authorities asked the students to vacate their hostel rooms and campus after hundreds of students staged demonstration and gheraoed the VC office protesting against fee hike.

They also demanded withdrawal of decision made by the university to introduce compulsory fooding for hostel inmates and instant examination system for plus three final year students.

Notably, the authorities hiked the fee and asked the students to vacate the hostels by May 28 for renovation work.
