‘Students selected to study abroad to be inoculated on priority’

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to prevent spread of Covid-19 disease, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has rolled out mobile vehicles to carry out mandatory of Covid testing at crowded place.

The city municipal corporation’s Commissioner Sanjay Singh said the mobile vans have been collecting samples for RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at fish markets, vegetable markets and other crowded places in the BMC area since yesterday. The move will increase the testing in the city corporation area.

He further informed over 8.57 lakh doses of Covid vaccine have been administered by June 4. In coming days, vaccination of 18-44 age group will be intensified in the BMC area.

Also, he added students from the city municipal corporation area, who have been selected to study abroad and require complete vaccination certificate as a prerequisite for the same, can register themselves to get vaccine by calling 1929 from tomorrow onwards.

He stated figures show the test positivity rate in the city has declined. Demand for ICU and oxygen beds in hospitals has come down as well.

The BMC has launched an app to help citizens in the city avail oxygen concentrators. Worth mentioning, the State government provided 200 oxygen concentrators to the city municipal corporation.
