Sub-division status demand: Bandh hits normal life in Odisha’s Aska

Aska: A 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh observed by lawyers here today demanding sub-division status to the town disrupted normal life in Aska of Odisha’s Ganjam district.

Lawyers under the banner of Aska Lawyers’ Association and members of Milita Kriyanusthana Committee staged road blockade on NH-59 at Badanadi and Rushikulya bridges, reports said. Vehicular movement was affected due to the road block.

Shops, business establishments and educational institutions here remained closed in view of the bandh.

Police forces have been deployed across the town to avoid untoward incidents.

The other demands of the agitators are to make Aska Notified Area Council a municipality and appointment of sufficient doctors in Aska hospital.
