SUM Hospital fire: Odisha police seeks docs from DMET

Odisha police today began its investigations at the Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) here in connection with SUM Hospital fire mishap.

Sources revealed that a team from Khandagiri police station today visited the DMET office and sought important documents pertaining to the issuance of the license to SUM Hospital under the Odisha Clinical Establishment Act.

The team also quizzed the joint director DMET in this connection.

“No, they didn’t come for any kind of interrogation. They have only asked for the file relating to SUM Hospital. Since we have all the papers pertaining to the registration of SUM Hospital under the Clinical Establishment Act before it was assigned to the Collector. We will certainly hand over these documents to them since it will help them in conducting the inquiry,” informed Umakant Satpathy, joint director DMET to reporters.

Moreover, the police team also inquired at the Fire Services office at Kalpana Square in the city.

Sources said the team ascertained about when Fire Services received the report about the outbreak of fire at SUM Hospital and how many teams of fire fighting personnel were deployed to contain the fire.
