Sum Nursing College in Odisha observes World Breast Feeding Week

There is a great need for creating awareness in the society about the virtues of breastfeeding, speakers  observed at the World Breast Feeding Week celebration at the Sum Nursing College, run by the Odisha-based SOA University today.

SOAA day-long conference on “Breast Feeding: A Winning Goal for Life” was organized to mark the occasion where the benefits of breastfeeding were discussed.

Prof PK Nanda, dean (research) of SOA University, who was the chief guest, stressed the need for recognizing the value of breastfeeding while Dr Sanjukta Mohapatra, head of department, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, IMS and Sum Hospital, urged health care professionals to make the mothers aware of the great benefits of the practice.

Prof Pravati Tripathy, dean of Sum Nursing College and organising chairperson of the conference, emphasized on enhancing the quality of mother’s milk through good nutrition.

Prof Sasmita Das and Geetarani Nayak also spoke on the occasion.
