SUMUM conducts awareness programme on breast cancer in Cuttack’s SCB

Cuttack: Amid the ongoing ‘World Breast Cancer Awareness Month’, SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) on Thursday organized a health talk regarding breast cancer awareness in SCB Nursing College here.

Dr. Jigyanshu Mohanty, Senior Consultant, Surgical Oncology at SUM Ultimate Medicare, who was present at the event as the guest speaker spoke about the advanced surgeries done on breast cancer patients and how one can lead a normal life post this.

“The breast-conserving surgery, also known as lumpectomy, is an advanced procedure in which only the cancer or abnormal tissues in the breast along with some normal tissues around the cancer is removed instead of the entire breast,” Dr. Mohanty said while addressing the final year students of the college.

“A patient who is diagnosed with breast cancer at an early stage and is treated with this surgery can lead a normal life ahead with minimum surgical scars visible on the body,” he added.

Dr. Mohanty also said that earlier the disease was prevalent in developed countries and now is on the rise in India due to the adoption of westernized lifestyle, improper dietary habits, and lack of exercise.

He further added that patients suffering from breast cancer can avail advanced treatment for the disease at SUMUM’s all-inclusive HOPE SPRINGS BLOCK of Oncology Sciences.

Notably, SUM Ultimate Medicare offers 360-degree cancer care solutions based on standard international protocols.
