Sundargarh Medical College & Hospital to be functional from next year

Rourkela: The Sundargarh Medical College and Hospital built by NTPC will be functional from next year and preparations are afoot to begin admission for 2022-23 academic year.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das informed this in the state Assembly today.

Detailing further, Das said initially the medical college will function with 100 seats while the hospital will have 500 beds. Recently,  the state Government invited applications for recruitment to of 271 posts in the MCH.

As per the notification dated August 27, 2021, total 160 teaching posts (professor, associate professor, assistant professor and tutor) in 22 disciplines will be filled up in the MCH. Similarly, 85 posts have been created for appointment of non-teaching staff.

This apart, 26 more posts, including Dean and Superintendent, have been sanctioned for the institution. However, creation of the posts is subjected to necessary approval of Government of India. The newly created posts will be filled up as per the relevant recruitment rule and provision of ORV (Orissa Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services) Act.
