Superintendent of Excise in Vigilance net in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Ajit Kumar Mohapatra, In-charge Superintendent of Excise, Deogarh was arrested by the State Vigilance today for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1.5 Lakh from a liquor vendor.

As per the complainant, Mohapatra was taking the bribe through Mathura Mohan Pradhan, ASI of Excise, Deogarh. The Vigilance officials laid a trap and caught Mohapatra red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.

In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case No.9 dt.28.09.2021 U/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.

The Vigilance also conducted simultaneous house searches in Deogarh and Berhampur.

Investigation is on against the In-Charge Superintendent of Excise and the ASI of Excise.
