Supply textbooks to cut-off areas in time, Odisha minister tells officials

The Odisha government today intensified measures to supply textbooks to all schools in the cut-off areas of the interior districts in time.

This was decided at a video conferencing on the problems faced by the Directorate, Textbooks Production and Marketing in supply of textbooks by School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra at the State Secretariat here today.

It was revealed at the meeting that about 61 percent of books have already been distributed at the district and school level in all 30 districts byWednesday while 70-80 percent books have reached the interior districts of Nabarangpur, Sambalpur and Kalahandi.

However, books for class VIII students have not been supplied by the Directorate. Besides, it has also not able to send the required number of books on Urdu, Telegu and Hindi.

The minister directed the concerned officials to supply all books to some districts within a week and set a time frame to supply all books to all schools in the cut-off areas.

He said he will have the second video conferencing on the matter on April 25.

Among others, secretary, School and Mass Education, Usha Padhee, District Education Officers (DEOs) and director, Textbooks Production and Marketing were present.
