Bolangir: After Twin City, Fire Services Department is conducting raids at several coaching centres across the state today to check fire safety arrangements .
The inspection drive began in Odisha after the major fire mishap at a coaching centre in Surat that claimed lives of over 20 students last month.
As per reports, around 50 teams of Fire Services personnel are conducting the raids in districts like in Bolangir, Bhadrak, Angul, Jharsuguda and Koaput. In Koraput, six teams raided coaching centres, including Vidwan +2 Science Residential-cum-Day Scholar College, Jagat Janani +3 Bigyan Maha Vidyalaya, Hi-tech Institute of Information and Technology, Royal College, Datapro Computer Coaching Centre and Competitive Institute.
The teams inspected whether the coaching centres have been issued fire safety certificate and are following necessary guidelines to avoid any eventuality.
The fire officials also sensitized students of the institutes on various life saving and rescue techniques in time of unforeseen emergency fire situations.
