Susanta Singh not in Jharsuguda bypoll observers’ list: BJP-BJD exchange barbs

Bhubaneswar: The Opposition BJP and Congress have been creating unnecessary hindrances in the ongoing probe of former Minister Naba Kishor Das’ murder. A few BJP leaders with criminal antecedents have given controversial statements in the recent past, alleged BJD media panelist Ipsita Sahu here today.

“One of those leaders has not won a single election as MLA or even a councilor. He (the leader) is doing cheap and nasty politics relating to a sensitive case like the minister’s death,” Sahu said in a presser.

“At a time when the entire State is perturbed over such a sensitive issue, the BJP senior leader giving distasteful statements is really unfortunate. I strongly condemn his words,” the spokesperson added.

The Opposition leaders must abstain from giving irresponsible comments in the future, Sahu further said.

Earlier in the day, BJP state unit general secretary Prithiviraj Harichandan stated that BJD leader Susanta Singh has involvement in the high-profile murder of Das. The party has now officially proved it to be true by excluding Singh from its panel of observers ahead of the bypoll to Jharsuguda Assembly seat.

“BJD is now trying to escape the wrath of Naba Babu’s supporters in the assembly segment. A few local leaders were earlier kept away from attending Das’ tenth-day rituals,” Harichandan claimed.
