Suspected Maoist detained in Khordha, search operation underway

Khordha: A joint team of Odisha police and Special Operation Group (SOG) launched a search operation in Gajamundia forest near Deuli village here today after the detention of a suspected Maoist on Thursday.

The police recovered cooking items from the forest during the search operation, which is in progress.

According to reports, the locals had caught one person on suspicion having links with Maoists yesterday. They handed over the suspect to the police.

The accused was identified as Suresh, a resident of Potangi village of Nuapada district.

Sources said that the 20-year-old Suresh was cooking for the ultras in the area in the past two months. He was also providing grocery items to them.

Suresh was caught by the locals while he was purchasing some grocery items yesterday afternoon.

During interrogation, he has reportedly confessed before police about his alleged association with the Maoists.
