Suspected Maoists gun down villager in Odisha

Suspected Maoists today shot dead a villager in Odisha’s Malkangiri district suspecting him to be a police informer.

According to reports, the deceased has been identified as Raghu Hantal from Cheliamunda village under MV 79 police station limits in the district.

The barbaric incident happened on the day in which members of the banned CPI (Maoist) triggered landmine blast in Rayagada district protesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed Odisha visit for the national executive meet next month.

Around 20 armed rebels stormed into Daikallu railway station office in the wee hours today and triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) inside it. The members of the outlawed group also detained the station master and a train guard for several hours.
