Suspected Maoists torch construction company vehicles

Suspected Maoists torched four vehicles and a motorcycle of a road construction company in Kalahandi district on Sunday night.

Reports said around 30 Maoists, including 10 women, raided a camp office of Shiv Shankar Construction Company under Miangapadar police limits and set afire two JCBs, two tractors anda motorbike .

Before retreating, the miscreants left posters of banned Bansadhara-Gumusuru-Nagabali division of CPI (Maoists) on the spot. The posters warned the company to halt road construction work immediately accusing it of exploiting workers.

Police, however, are yet to confirm it as an act of Maoists and said investigations are on.

The incident has caused panic among the locals, sources said.
