Suspended jailer in Odisha Vigilance net

Sambalpur: Odisha Vigilance sleuths today conducted simultaneous raids on residence, parental house and office of suspended jailer of Sambalpur Circle Jail, Susanta Kumar Rout on allegation of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The incident comes a day after Rout was placed under suspension.

According to reports, raids were conducted at government quarters of Rout at Sambalpur, his office here and parental house at Kalyanpur and Binjharpur to unearth possession of disproportionate assets.

Worth mentioning, Rs 18 lakh was recovered from Rout’s chamber during a raid on the jail on June 4.

Additional Director General (Prisons) Arun Kumar Ray had suspended Rout yesterday and requested for a Vigilance probe into the incident.
