‘Swachh Dant Abhiyan’ held in Odisha capital

‘Swachh Dant Abhiyan’, the clean teeth awareness campaign, was organized by Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), KIIT University in the Odisha capital today.

It was an initiative to create awareness among the public on oral and dental health and also about preservation of natural teeth. An oral and dental health public awareness rally was taken out by the students of KIDS from Big Bazaar Square, Patia to KIDS campus. The theme of the campaign was ‘Life is best with teeth, so join hands to give yourself a Smile 4 Life’.

As many as 150 students participated in the rally. The rally was flagged off by Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar, KIIT University in the presence of Prof. P. P. Mathur, Vice Chancellor, R. N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT & KISS, P. Parida, Management Representative, KIMS, Prof. Shruti Dev, Vice Principal (Academics), Dr. J. Pathi, Administrative Officer and Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Faculty Incharge, Student Affairs, KIDS.

The students carried dental health related banners and placards. As an innovation, they gave away balloons to general public that had messages like drawing of ‘Smiling Tooth’ and messages like ‘Better Teeth… Better Health’ written on it.

Dr. Shyam insisted on four important aspects to keep the teeth healthy – twice brushing and flossing, healthy diet, abstinence from tobacco and alcohol and regular visit to dentist.
