Swine flu toll rises to eight in Odisha

The swine flu death toll rose to eight in Odisha with the death of another patient in Bhubaneswar on late Thursday night.

According to a belated informed from the Public Health department, the deceased, a native of Rourkela was admitted to private nursing home in Bhubaneswar on March 15.

The patient, while undergoing treatment for diabetes and cardiac problem, was later tested H1N1 positive and later passed away following a brain stroke on night of April 2. However, the identity of the deceased was not yet known, reports said.

Meanwhile, of the two swab tests conducted at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) here on Saturday, one was found H1N1 positive.

The 54-year-old patient is a native of Bhubaneswar. With this, out of a total of 226 swab tests, 46 have been found positive.
