Bhubaneswar: The BJP is all set to field Tankadhar Tripathy as its candidate for the upcoming bypoll to the Jharsuguda Assembly Constituency in Odisha, informed party leader Subash Panigrahi today.
A formal announcement in this regard will be made by the BJP soon, he said, adding that Panigrahi has been doing organisational work for the party in the area.
Tripathy is the State Secretary of the Odisha Unit of the BJP.
The BJD has already named Dipali Das, daughter of late Naba Kishore Das, as its candidate.
On the other hand, Congress state president Sarat Pattanayak has formed a committee led by senior leader and MLA Santosh Singh Saluja to select a suitable candidate.
The bypoll will be held on May 10 while the counting of votes will take place on May 13.
The bypoll was necessitated after the murder of the then sitting MLA Naba Kishore Das on January 29, this year.
