TCS inks MoU with Odisha Govt for free online education for Classes IX and X

Bhubaneswar: In view of COVID-19 pandemic, Odisha Government has decided to start online education programme in schools for Class 9 and 10 students for free of cost.

In this regard, an MoU has been signed between School & Mass Education Department and the IT major TCS here at a virtual meeting today.

The free online education programme will be implemented in 214 Adarsh Vidyalaya and 101 Utkasrh Vidyalaya in Odisha, informed State School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash.

Under the programme, the TCS will provide free online education to students in Adarsh and Utkarsh schools. The teachers of these schools will also be provided training to get knowledge about different digital teaching platforms.

As the schools are closed in Odisha due to COVID-19 pandemic, the classes are currently being held online through various apps including WhatsApp.

Keeping the present COVID situation in mind and by the order of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the School & Mass Education Department has taken several initiatives to provide education to students online. While the education programme is continuing for 3 hours every day on Doordarshan for the students of Class 10 and 12, teachers are engaged in taking other classes through virtual mode.

Similarly, Radio Pathshala programme has been launched to provide education to students from Class 1 to 8. The differently abled students are being taught through community radio programme like Radio-Surbhi during the pandemic.
