Teacher, Dak Sevak arrested in fake certificate case in Odisha

Bhawanipatna: Bhawanipatna police arrested a teacher and his Dak Sevak son in connection with a fake certificate case in Kalahandi district.

The accused persons were Padmanabh Mahananda, a resident of Goipita village under Bhawanipatna PS, and his son Prabhat Mahananda. The father-son duo has been sent to jail following their arrest.

As per allegations, Padmanabh Mahananda, a teacher of Sapsilet government primary school in Bhawanipatna, was providing fake certificates to job aspirants in exchange of huge amounts of money. His son Prabhat was appointed to a post in the Department of Post by furnishing a fake certificate.

The duo came under scanner following verification of certificates furnished by Prabhat Mahananda, who was among the newly recruited candidates for the Gramin Dak Sevak posts in Kalahandi district.

According to reports, the Assistant Superintendent of Bhawanipatna Post Office had recommended the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) for verification of certificates of the newly appointed Gramin Dak Sevaks in Kalahandi district. During the verification, the Board found the matriculation certificate furnished by one candidate ‘Prabhat Mahananda’ a duplicate.

In this regard, Bhawanipatna Post Office lodged a complaint was lodged at Bhawanipatna Twon Police Station.

Based on the complaint, the police initiated probe into the case and found the accused Dak Sevak’s father was involved in the fake certificate racket.
