Teachers to call off agitation for smooth conduct of exams in Odisha!

Bhubaneswar: Amidst agitation by the school and college teachers to meet their various demands, the state government is still hopeful that the teachers will call off their strike for smooth conduct of examinations.

During discussion with Teachers and Employees United Forum at a meeting attended by Higher Education Minister Ananta Das, School & Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra here today, the government urged the teachers for smooth conduct of matric and plus two examinations in the state.

The government has urged to cooperate in smooth conduct of examinations. But the final decision will be taken in steering committee meeting, said Golak Nayak, the convener of School College Teachers and Employees United Forum.

“We are hopeful that the teachers will withdraw their agitation or else the government will go for alternative measures for smooth conduct of matric and plus two examinations in the state,” said Higher Education Minister Ananta Das after meeting with School College Teachers and Employees United Forum.

“As the teachers have equal responsibility towards the students and their guardians, we urged them to conduct the examinations. We got positive sign during discussion, which is in progress. I think the teachers will call off their agitation after discussion at steering committee,” he said.

We cannot say about their intention. The government is aware of their demands. However, nothing can be done right now as the model code of conduct is already in force. We discussed for smooth conduct of the examination for the students’ future. The government will think of alternative if they do not withdraw their strike, Das added.
